Galahad Defence was established by veteran Royal Air Force pilot Jonnie Rockingham-Smith, a highly accomplished senior Qualified Helicopter Instructor, who wanted to offer his vast experience in operational flying, synthetic training, R&D and test & evaluation to a wider audience.

Jonnie flew fast jets in the 1990s before transferring to helicopters in 2000. He has operated across the globe, including operational deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. His remit extended to Operational Test & Evaluation and pan-platform front-line training for Heli v Heli and Fighter v Heli evasion training, electronic warfare and Composite Air Operations training. Latterly Jonnie attended the Royal Air Force’s prestigious Central Flying School - the oldest flying school in the world - where he graduated as a Qualified Helicopter Instructor, returned to the front-line and helped struggling trainee pilots to overcome their difficulties and to excel.

Since leaving the Royal Air Force, Jonnie has developed and worked with exclusive and bespoke simulators, building individual training solutions for the United Kingdom military and other international friends and partners.
